Care Homes: Care homes are organisations providing accommodation and care for people who are unable to look after themselves. There are generally two types of care homes: Residential homes and Nursing homes (Most care homes offer both residential and nursing care places). Residential homes provide accommodation and personal care, such as help with washing, dressing, taking medicines, going to the toilet etc. Nursing homes, apart from the above tasks, also has one or more qualified nurse to take care of the nursing needs of the residents.

Care at Home (or Homecare) Homecare service providers provide a carer who visit you at your home to help with day-to-day tasks such as washing, dressing, taking medicines, going to the toilet, shopping, getting out for lunch etc. Some specialised providers may also provide nurses for nursing needs at home.


What are GPs? : GP stands for 'General Practitioner' who can deal with all type of medical conditions and mainly treats acute (short duration) and chronic (diseases that lasts for more than three months) illnesses. GPs provide routine health care checkups like physical examinations, vaccinations, simple surgical operations etc. They also provide advice on diet and smoking, preventive care and health education to patients.
